Art Director, Figma plugin and workflow

A Figma plugin for the XBOX team. Approved game art lands in the file, without the scavenger hunt.

The problem

The problem

XBOX email and other digital placements need real game art. That art sits behind publisher rules, old folder structures, and a simple question that ate time on every send: is this file actually cleared? Designers were paying a tax before they ever started the layout.

Why it mattered

Why it mattered

A design system still fails if the raw materials take an hour to find. The toolkit and the library have to live in the same place. Otherwise people build beautiful frames around the wrong file, or they wait around for someone to find the right one.

What I did

What I did

I built a Figma plugin so the approved library lives where the work already happens. AI helped me move faster on the build. It did not generate the art. The plugin pulls assets that publishers and XBOX full-time employees have already approved and drops them into the working file.

What we stopped

What we stopped

We stopped hopping through tabs, walking the shared drive, and pinging Teams to ask if anyone had the new key art. That scavenger hunt was not design work. It was delay wearing a productive face.

What shipped

The team uses the plugin in daily work. XBOX email and other digital placements now pull from the same approved well. It is not a demo sitting in a side file. It is part of how the work gets made.

What changed

Approved XBOX art lands in Figma instead of a folder maze.

Designers spend the hour on layout and craft, not on hunting files. The plugin is part of the daily workflow, not a demo.
